Senior Advisors Sir Vince Cable, Alan Whitehead MP, Peter Aldous MP, Laura Sandys CBE, Lord Whitty and Professor Paul Ekins are working with the sustainability hub to shape and guide the Vision10 industrial strategy seminar series. The Vision10 programme comprises of evidence sessions led by industry experts to develop a 10-year plan for a UK low carbon economy.
ECO ACTION GAMES
The sustainability hub leads an ongoing campaign to educate Parliamentarians on low carbon living using educational tools disguised as fun games. The eco action games take inspiration from classics including Bingo, Twister, Snakes & Ladders and Top Trumps. This campaign provides a different way for MPs to engage with sustainability and learn about reducing energy use, saving water, modal shifts in transport and a range of measures to lower carbon emissions. SPEED UPDATING
Sustainability hub members were encouraged to ‘chat up’ newly elected MPs at our Speed Updating event in the House of Commons. Members representing environment charities, leading businesses and trade associations speed briefed MPs on energy innovations, air quality, the circular economy and low carbon transport solutions.
PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE ‘Is there a political will to act on Climate Change?’
Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, Edward Davey MP provided the keynote address for the sustainability hub’s Parliamentary cross party debate on the political willingness to deliver climate change leadership and carbon reduction. Parliamentarians Peter Aldous MP and Luciana Berger MP led the discussions on government’s role to act on climate change.
GREEN MANIFESTO LAUNCH
Tim Farron MP led the debate of the Liberal Sustainability Network’s Green Book. Baroness Parminter and Parliamentarians joined policy makers and industry experts to discuss the comprehensive proposals put forward in the book and manifesto.
